Code of conduct
Protect each other. Starting in the room.
Draft for review (September 2026). The collective should confirm who handles reports and add a second contact before launch.
People come to our workshops because someone, somewhere, is watching or targeting them. The room has to be safer than the internet they're learning to handle. This applies to every ZPC workshop, clinic, community night, and online space, for participants, facilitators, and hosts alike.
What we expect
- Assume people have reasons. Someone's threat model may be about an abusive ex, immigration status, or their boss. You don't need to know why.
- No stupid questions. Nobody gets laughed at for not knowing what a password manager is.
- Share the air. Let others finish. Facilitators will make room for quieter people.
- What's said here stays here. You can share what you learned, but not who said what or whose story it was.
Not OK, ever
- Photographing, recording, or screenshotting other participants without their clear yes.
- Looking up, tracking, or posting information about anyone in the room (doxxing), including "just checking."
- Using what you learn here to monitor, stalk, or break into anyone's accounts or devices.
- Harassment, threats, or slurs, including about race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, immigration status, age, or class.
- Pressuring anyone to share their device, passwords, or personal story.
If something happens
Tell a facilitator in the room, or email hello@zenxyprivacy.org with "Conduct" in the subject. You can report anonymously. We'll listen, keep it as private as you want it kept, and tell you what we're doing about it.
Depending on what happened, we may ask someone to stop, ask them to leave, or not invite them back. Facilitators are held to this code too, and a report about a facilitator goes to someone else in the collective.
